Casted polyester, pigments, steel, fragments of a photograph from the personal archive of Eva-Lisa Bengtson (1968). The person depicted is not Eva-Lisa herself, but presumably a friend of hers. Permission to work with the photographic material has been given by Sam Hultin and QRAB (The Archives and Library of the Queer Movement) in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Eva-Lisa Bengtson (b. 1932, d. 2018) was a Swedish activist and feminist advocating for trans people’s rights. She also initiated several meeting places and clubs, such as Transvestia, for trans people and their allies in and around Stockholm from the 1960s onwards. Read more about Eva-Lisa here.
